Hey! I decided it might be helpful to have a reference post for all the details for the AU. I'll update this periodically as new things are revealed or added. - Bec
General Info
This Au is based on Pixie Hollow and the Tinkerbell movies/books! Most of it will lean on the movie lore, but will borrow some lore from the books as well. I also am making up a lot of lore myself to fill in gaps for the storyline or make the translation from MHA easier.
You can learn more about the lore of Pixie Hollow via the wiki!
>> The Fanfic is out and updating! You can read it here! <<
#MHAPixieHollow
Want to draw or write with the AU and share it? You can use the above hashtag so it'll be connected! I'll try to check this tag regularly so I can share your work! (This should work on tumblr and insta, but I cannot be certain for twitter/bluesky.)
#pixie asks
This is the tag I use on answers to askbox questions involving the AU!
Some General Guidelines:
While my AU has a plot line and is intended to have BKDK as the focus ship, I don't care/mind if you like the designs and want to draw your preferred ship with them! As long as you're nice to others, do what you want! (So even though I'm making this for BKDK, if you like KRBK and like their designs, I don't care if you draw/write that with the AU!)
I do have a storyline for the AU and am working on a fic with that, but! I love seeing others' creativity, so if you want to use the AU for your own writing, feel free! All I ask is that you don't claim anything as "canon" to the AU unless its been stated by me!
Its unlikely I'll be able to design every fairy from 1A or elsewhere, so if I haven't designed them and you want to come up with a design for the AU, do it! I'd love to see it!
If you like any of the art from the AU and want to use it for PFPs/Banners on your social accounts, you're free to do so! I'd prefer credit if you did, thanks!
Most of my work for the AU will be monochrome sketches, so if you want to color them feel free! All I ask is that you properly credit me if you share your coloring.
The Fairies
Izuku aka "Deku" - [design]
Talent: Dust Keeper Alchemy Info: Deku's wings are covered in black veins that creep onto his back and he cannot fly, even with the help of pixie dust. He's given blue pixie dust by All Might and works on alchemy experiments in secret in order to do multiple talents.
Katsuki aka "Kacchan" - [design]
Talent: Fast Flying Info: One of the best fast flyers in Pixie Hollow, he has unique control over the winds. Constantly keeping Deku out of trouble.
Eijirou - [design]
Talent: Animal Talent Info: One of Katsuki's closest friends. He has a best animal friend, a turtle named Boulder, who he visits regularly and takes sun naps on his shell.
Denki - [design]
Talent: Light Talent Info: Playful and excitable, he has a habit of accidentally lighting himself up when excited.
Mina - [design]
Talent: Garden Talent Info: Fun-loving and overly social, she loves calling forward a bunch of colorful petals to surprise others.
Kyouka - [design]
Talent: Music Talent Info: Likes to play her guitar in various places in pixie hollow for her friends. Momo, the tinker fairy, makes and fixes her instruments.
Hanta - [design]
Talent: Scouting Talent Info: Specializes in using vines and ropes to restrain threats. A fairly laid back fairy who likes to bother his friends and laze about when avoiding orders from Hawks, the leader of the Scouting guild.
Ochaco - [design]
Talent: Fast Flying Info: While not the fastest of the flying talents, Ochaco specializes in utilizing winds to create a soft floating affect. She's most useful in helping dandelions find their way to the pixie dust tree or assisting in soft landings.
Shouto - [design]
Talent: Light & Frost Talents Info: Shouto is a unique fairy where two dandelions were growing from the same stalk when it took flight to Pixie Hollow. Because of this, him and his intentional sibling became one when influenced by Pixie dust, making him both a Summer and Winter fairy. Because of this, he can do 2 talents and also survive in both climates for elongated periods of time. However, he cannot stay in one place for a whole year, and regularly has to move between the Summer Glade and the Winter Woods.
Tsuyu - [design]
Talent: Water Talent Info: One of the only Water fairies that willingly gets into water, though she doesn't submerge her wings and only stands in shallow ends. She calls Izuku "Izu-chan."
Tenya - [design]
Talent: Fast Flying Info: A very structured fairy, he doesn't like deviating from his schedule. He's considered possibly the fastest of the fast flying talents but his wind control is lacking.
Hitoshi - [design]
Talent: Dust Keeping Info: Always tired. One of Izuku's closest friends, he'll defend Izuku in his own way from others. Has some unspoken guilt that he maybe somehow was the reason Izuku's wings formed incorrectly.
All Might
Talent: Unknown Info: When acting as king, All Might presents himself in a full-bodied muscled form. But out of the public eye, he presents as a feeble older fairy named Toshinori. The other fairies outside of the Never Council and Fairy Inko don't know that they're the same people, which allows Toshinori to speak comfortably with others and keep an eye on Pixie Hollow from the sidelines. Izuku meets Toshinori and helps him with something, despite the task being far harder without the help of flight, and Toshinori sees how hard Izuku is trying and feels something special about him, so he gives Izuku a supply of blue pixie dust.
More TBA!
Other Characters
Eri
Eri is a human child whose laugh Deku was born from. She lives a difficult life.
Mirio aka "Lemillion"
Mirio is a blonde mouse and Eri's only friend, who attempts to look out for her and make her smile. Eri gave him the nickname "Lemillion" because it sounds like 'lemon' (because of his fur) and how he's 1 in a million.
More TBA!
F.A.Q.
What happened to Deku's wings? Can he not fly?
Deku's wings did not work since his arrival. They look different from others' wings and don't respond to pixie dust, so he cannot take flight. Because he was born from Eri's sorrowful laugh, there was not enough joy in it for him to form correctly. [You can see Deku's Birth comic here!]
What about [insert character name]?
I have plans for most of the main cast from MHA, but not all of them will be fairies. As for other characters, like students from 1B or other NPCs, I don't have solid thoughts for all of them and really only think of them if I plan to insert them into the story so I probably don't have a role for them.
How did Katsuki and Izuku meet?
Katsuki met Izuku on Izuku's arrival day! He was the fairy to see Izuku's dandelion come into Pixie Hollow and aided it to the Pixie Dust Tree. [You can see the comic here!]
Is this a fanfic or comic I can read?
Right now, all that exists are the little snippet comics and drawings I've made. However! I have a storyline in mind for the AU set roughly 6 years after Deku's birth, and I'm going to try to write it! I'll definitely share it when I'm able.
Will there be other ships in the AU other than BKDK?
Probably! But I haven't given it much thought or focus yet.
Can I cosplay your fairy designs?
ABSOLUTELY!! And please show me because I will cry.
Am I allowed to do fanart/write something for the AU?
OF COURSE!!! Please please share it with me too I'd love to see it! You can also use the tag #MHAPixieHollow !
More TBA as needed.

Tumblr media
2009
beomgyu’s room at eight years old is directly opposite from your window. you recently watched taylor swift’s you belong with me music video, and your unassuming neighbor who just recently moved in has become the center of the romantic production running in your little mind.
when his family invites you over for dinner, you’re giddy to put a name to the pretty boy that’s been in your sights; only ever seeing him with a guitar strapped to his back when he walks by your house as you sit on the porch with a book.
“hi,” he’s the one opening the door, greeting you enthusiastically. you assumed he would have been a shy boy, especially with the way he walked with his head down and never without an mp3 player and wired earphones. that was just one of the many surprises beomgyu had in store for you and your serendipitous friendship.
beomgyu smiles politely at your parents before pulling the door back and letting you all inside. your mother’s ushering you to the boy, hurriedly greeting his parents and leaving you in beomgyu’s care.
you turn to him, shy and unsure of what to do, but beomgyu’s there to pull you out of your daydreams. he slightly tugs the sleeve of your shirt, chin tilted to the direction of the stairs. “wanna play mario kart in my room?”
you’re scanning the room to look for your parents, silently asking permission with your eyes when you catch your dad looking back at you. when he nods, you’re quick to relay it to beomgyu, who returns the biggest smile you’ve seen. boys are usually rough around the edges, either boisterous or freakishly hyper-aware of cooties, but beomgyu is different. he’s just loud enough to have you laughing until your tummy hurts, but he’s also a good listener.
your feet dangle from the height of his bed while he sets up his wii. it only takes a few minutes of tinkering and confused grumbles before beomgyu joins you, sitting close and handing over the controller.
“i’ve never played this game before!” your voice chimes with the game’s background music, fiddling with the buttons on your controller and accidentally pressing something that makes beomgyu laugh.
“that’s okay,” he navigates through the buttons on the screen to take you back to the starting screen. “i’ll go easy on you.”
you may have gotten beomgyu all wrong, because as you inch closer to stealing his first place spot on your eighth round of playing, he throws a green shell at you, putting you off-course.
“that’s so not fair, beomgyu!” you grumble frustratedly, shoulders slumped. beomgyu has a mischievous smile on his face; a different charm to the friendly one you encountered at his doorway, or the re-assuring one when he asked to play mario kart.
“i didn’t even know you could do that.” you whine, twisting your body left and right as if it would take away from your loss.
beomgyu’s mouth opens, but instead of hearing his squeaky voice, you both hear your mom’s.
“yn, time to go home!”
you both tear your eyes away from the doorframe to look at one another.
“teach me next time?” you plead, eyes shiny and hopeful that you’ve got a new friend to play with. someone who would always be next to you.
beomgyu feels similarly. he lets it show by nodding enthusiastically, his rectangular glasses pressed onto his rising cheeks, swelling from all the smiling he’s done tonight.
2017
“choi beomgyu!” you yell from the bottom of the staircase, leaning on the creaky railing despite beomgyu’s constant warnings of “you’re gonna fall off one day, y’know.”
you’re both sixteen years old, and tonight is prom. unlike the books you read, you were not serenaded by the most beautiful (subjective) boy in school; but like the disney movies, you’re at your best friend’s house and going as each other’s dates.
the idea was initially disgusting to both you and beomgyu, suggested by menacingly blunt choi soobin during one of your escapades to the internet cafe. when prom started to come closer and closer, you and beomgyu would briefly text about it in jokes. the final straw was probably the fact that soobin actually got a date before either of you. so, with only three days to prom and a whole lot of spite, you and beomgyu hunted down matching corsages and sealed the deal.
you glance at the clock on the wall, ticking seven. sick of waiting on your bare feet, you lift the trailing end of your dress and make your way up to beomgyu’s room.
you don’t bother to knock, having seen the worst of beomgyu and his room already. the sight that greets you is anything but what you expect.
you expected heaps of clothes on the floor from his panicked frenzy of not knowing what to put on under his blazer; maybe some mismatched socks, and shoes tossed to every corner out of indecision.
instead, you see beomgyu clad in a neat, black suit, with a navy blue dress shirt. his black hair, usually falling over his eyelashes, is tucked away to show off the face that many come to your classroom to see. just like how he was at eight, you know beomgyu is different; he’s delicate, never gruff, even when he picks you up from your doorstep with bedhead.
beomgyu has always been pretty, but tonight, he’s charming. he’s handsome. just thinking it makes you want to regurgitate your words and flush them down the toilet. it brings upon this weird pit in your stomach that was never there when you were wiping your cheeto-dust fingers on beomgyu’s shirt as some petty form of teasing. that weird feeling you only got when someone cute walked your way, or someone flustered you to the point of developing a crush. you hope it’s nothing too serious.
“woah!”
“what.” beomgyu deadpans, unamused by your exaggerated gasp. in reality, the pink on his cheeks already has you guessing that he’s shy. your beomgyu has always been one for compliments and sweet gestures, recalling how his eyes brightened every time your smaller hands patted his head when you were younger.
“no need to get sassy, jeez,” you roll your eyes playfully, the smile on your face never leaving. “you look good. handsome.”
“thanks,” he smiles sheepishly. it’s silent for a bit, until beomgyu says, “keep ‘em coming…”
“dipshit!” you smack his forearm. “you’ll hear more from everyone tonight, i bet.”
“i guess so,” he shrugs, looking at himself on the full-length mirror, trying to fold his necktie like the way his dad taught him. you move closer, your dress trailing behind you when you drop the sides in favor of helping beomgyu out with his tie. you’re so close; the kind of close you and beomgyu haven’t been ever before, except when you were ten and you fell off your bike, crashing onto him.
you’re in front of him now, looping the fabric and not really looking at him. you can’t tell that he’s staring down at your concentrated face, smiling softly at how your tongue peeks out of your mouth in concentration.
he hasn’t gotten the chance to compliment you back, but he’s noticed how beautiful you looked the minute you stepped into his room. his thoughts only get confirmed further now that you’re just a few breaths apart; your lip gloss has a sheen that’s tempting to swipe off with his own lips, and your eyelashes flutter in the way that beomgyu pictures in a few years time, where you’re waking up next to him every morning.
“not from anyone that matters though.”
your fingers stop working, peering up at your best friend. you don’t really know what to make of how his eyes glisten; how they look fondly at you, so you revert to the only thing you and beomgyu know will fix anything — fooling around, saying something stupid.
“are you saying if soobin complimented you, you wouldn’t give a fuck?”
“you make it sound like i’m in love with him.” you shrug, lips pursed as you continue the final touches of his tie. he bumps his forehead onto yours, making you curse. “what? bros can seek validation from one another!”
“so can i seek it from you, bro?”
you shake your head, amused by his unfamiliar use of the nickname. “whatever. are you done now?”
“no.” you groan. beomgyu pulls away from you first, going to his bedside drawer and fishing out a box.
he come back to your side, this time, with the corsage you both overpaid for. beomgyu wraps it around your wrist and prompts you to turn your hand over, tying it up for you. you watch him intently.
unconsciously, your hands extend to caress his head, gently patting his styled hair. the moment your fingers graze his scalp, he freezes up for a few seconds before resuming, trying to ignore the fluttering feeling in his chest.
“i forgot to say earlier,” beomgyu returns to his full height, but his hand is still holding yours. he squeezes three times with his dimples peeking out as he smiles, a semblance of a confession that you fail to pick up on. “you look beautiful tonight, too.”
2021
it’s nearly midnight when you and beomgyu decide that the best activity to do when both of you are jobless on a friday night (saturday morning now) is to dye each other’s hair.
you left an hour ago for a random supermarket run, and you return with a bottle of bleach, developer and a bunch of dyes that were on sale. possibly also a whole new stock of instant ramen. tonight was one of the nights you’re relieved your best friend has a car.
you’re both twenty now, in college and far away from home for a while. still, home doesn’t feel too far away when beomgyu’s still waiting for you outside the girls’ dorm building with disheveled hair. from your freshman year to now, beomgyu’s still been the same beomgyu that you love. you can admit that to yourself now, finally catching the culprit of that odd feeling in your stomach from prom night. though you’re unsure when you can gather the courage to tell him all that.
you’re pushing the door open to beomgyu’s dorm room, seeing his roommate taehyun slipping his shoes on with a backpack.
“are you running away?” you question, half-joking. “beomgyu can’t be that bad of a roommate. he’s like a pet goldfish sometimes.”
beomgyu’s shutting the door behind you when he walks into your odd conversation with taehyun. “that’s the meanest thing you’ve ever said about me.”
“goldfish are so cute though!” you reason with him, your tone higher in pitch as your silly charade continues. taehyun’s joining along too, laughing at the banter between you and beomgyu. “did you know the guy who created goldfish crackers made them because his wife was a pisces?”
“i’m a pisces,” beomgyu proudly states, chest puffed out with the bags of your pointless mission weighing down his shoulders. “would you make me a fish-inspired snack, yn? answer carefully, our relationship depends on it.”
you try to ignore the fact that he says relationship, not friendship. details, details. but beomgyu’s all about details. he didn’t say anything for just no reason, so you can’t help but let the thought fester. for now, you keep up with the jokes.
“you don’t even like seafood, gyu.”
“okay kids,” taehyun interrupts, heading towards the door. “i’m going to the gym. don’t burn the place up, please…”
“i think i’m gonna burn something else.” you snark, looking up at beomgyu’s perfectly smooth hair. he catches your stare and consciously guards his head.
taehyun leaves in the next few minutes, and it’s just you and beomgyu again.
beomgyu’s eyebrows wiggle comically, grabbing your shoulders and pushing you to the bathroom. “w-wait, wait!”
“what? backing out?” he challenges you, shaking you by the shoulders. “yn, you can’t!” his whining is convincing, but mostly because beomgyu has this pout that he doesn’t know you succumb to every single time he pulls it out — which is nearly everyday.
“n-no..! just..”
beomgyu’s face softens. he takes your face between his right hand, squishing your cheeks repeatedly. he huffs mockingly, “fine, you can do mine first.”
in the next hour, beomgyu’s desk chair is situated between the bathroom door and the carpeted floor of the bedroom, holding it open to let the stench of the bleach disperse. you’re sitting on said chair with a towel on your lap, while beomgyu sits on the bathroom floor, legs folded to his chest. his back is leaning against the middle of the chair, but he’s essentially sitting between your legs as you clumsily paint bleach over random sections of his hair.
“sorry if this turns to shit, beoms.” you snicker, layering more product on the strand between your fingers. you’re startled by beomgyu’s movements, his head tilting upwards slightly to look at you before looking back down. “you owe me free food for the rest of our lives if i end up looking like a dalmatian.”
“that’s fine,” you giggle, tapping his shoulder to motion for him to turn around and face you, trying to get the sections with his bangs. “at least i know we’ll be best friends forever.”
beomgyu fights the urge to say something stupid; something that might end the nights of you sleeping over and snuggling close to his chest — the things that pop up in his head range from “you’re so cute, i wanna kiss you.” to “i think i’ve been in love with you for years, so yeah, anyway.”
he still says something rather silly, but he thinks it’s just slightly less off-putting than telling your best friend who you grew up with that you’re in love with her.
“technically, you’d be my sugar mommy.”
you raise a brow, “outing your mommy kink?”
“yes, and?”
fits of laughter fill the air, you have to place the brush back on the sink in case you smack beomgyu’s face from how you throw your whole body around when you laugh. he’s just the same, nearly snorting when he sees how red your face has become.
at some point, you’re still trying to recover from giggling so hard, taking the brush back into your hands and picking out sections of beomgyu’s bangs. he chooses to perch his chin on one of your thighs with his head tilted up, as if admiring you deeply from the ground. beomgyu can ignore the prickly sensation settling on his scalp and the cold tiles of his bathroom floor freezing his butt off if he can see you from this view more often. it reminds him of when you used to let him rest his head on your lap that one time your families went on a road trip, and you both were stuck in the back. or the other times in his childhood bedroom where he’d fall asleep and wake up with your fingers tangled in his hair, head over a pillow on your lap.
beomgyu thinks he fell for you then, that he’d decided that he’d kneel on the ground forever if you asked him to. he thinks he’d probably do much worse if the requests were coming from your pretty lips.
you stop painting over his hair, signaling that beomgyu’s done. you think beomgyu’s going to get up from the floor, his legs crossed and obviously sleeping from how long you’ve had him sitting down there, but he’s still in-between your legs that it stops you from moving too. you’re about to joke around and tell him to get up, but you finally catch onto the fact that he’s looking up at you like he’s stargazing, or watching the prettiest sunset in the summer.
“gyu, what’s up?”
it takes a while for him to respond. beomgyu feels his mind drifting to places he doesn’t know he’s allowed to be in; thinking about how he’s thought of waking up next to you since he was sixteen, and it might have sounded like trying to snatch the sun from the sky back then, but he feels an inkling that it’s not too impossible right now, at twenty, in his room and at your disposal.
“do you remember when we went to prom together?”
you snort, reminded of your trembling hands when your parents asked you and beomgyu to take pictures and pose together, feeling his hand on your waist. “yeah, we looked pretty good.”
“yeah,” beomgyu draws circles and random patterns on your clothed thighs. “we did look pretty good together.”
“what?”
“what?”
“what did you say, gyu?” your voice comes out in a whisper, even when you try to be firm and persistent.
“you heard me,” he mumbles, finally looking away from you with the pink dusting his cheeks.
“no, i think i have to hear it again.” you tease, flicking his forehead to turn his attention back on you. “come on, say it.”
beomgyu bounces back, eyes trained on you as his lips move faster than any other time you’ve listened to him babble. he’s never even spoken this fast when he’s raging on his matches with soobin.
“jeez, yn, you wanna hear me say i’m in love with my best friend who i have also imagined living together with for the rest of my life?”
he blinks, realizing what he just said. “well… i mean, you got it.”
you press your lips together, trying to hold in the laugh that was threatening to burst out on beomgyu’s deer-in-the-headlights face. you’d feel terrible if you ruined this moment for both of you, so you try and keep it to giggles and a pleased grin.
“you sure you wanna live with me for the rest of your life, beomie?” you tease, bending down and bringing your face close to his. you enjoy the feeling of making beomgyu shy, and you know his guilty pleasure is when you’re rendered flustered and defensive.
“that’s all you got from what i said?” he pouts.
“aw, baby,” cooing at him. if his hair wasn’t slicked with bleach, you would have fluffed it and patted it the way he always liked. “d’you wanna start apartment hunting and writing down our kids’ names?”
he blinks up at you, briefly taking his phone out of his pocket and turning it over to show his notes app. “yeah, go ahead.”
“beomgyu.” you stare at him, slightly bewildered and freaked out, but also endeared.
“i’m just joking!” he puts his hands up defensively.
he taps your thigh again once his arms let up. “...you still haven’t said anything.”
“if it wasn’t obvious enough, choi beomgyu,” you start, pointing an accusatory finger at him. “i’m also in love with you. and i would love to be by your side forever.”
2024
it’s almost been three years since the night beomgyu and you confessed to each other.
everything seems to come full-circle, because you’re twenty three and sitting on beomgyu’s lap while playing mario kart. you have vivid memories of being eight years old and telling beomgyu off for not going easy on a first-timer, but you’ve had years and years of payback for that moment by now.
beomgyu doesn’t need to go easy on you anymore, occasionally yelling in your ear when you sabotage him, only to trail kisses from your earlobe to your neck as an apology.
as you finish up your last game as promised, you turn your head and press a chaste kiss on beomgyu’s cheek. sometimes, you still can’t believe your best friend has graduated from being just that, to being your boyfriend. beomgyu chases after your face as soon as you detach from him, his lips quickly pecking yours.
it took a while until you and beomgyu could live together, only finding a place you could both attest to earlier this year. but since then, you’ve made plenty of memories in every nook and cranny.
you keep old habits like mario kart, and beomgyu purposely makes mistakes with his necktie just so you can tug on it, kiss him and fix it instead. but your life with beomgyu has new bits and pieces that flourished since sharing your love for one another. your shared baths that consist of gossip that beomgyu is overly enthusiastic of; taking selfies every night when you put on sheet masks for each other; and instead of picking you up with bedhead, you have the privilege of seeing beomgyu in a dress shirt with his sleeves rolled up, picking you up from work and waiting for you to fill the passenger seat of his car.
it makes you think not only about all the lovely moments you’ve had with beomgyu, but the ugly parts that only you both know of each other.
“i really hope this is a forever thing, gyu.” you blurt out.
“playing mario kart with me?” beomgyu knows what you mean; he can tell you’re floating in your head when you ask him. still, he lightens the mood.
“yeah,” you chuckle. you suppose he isn’t wrong, you wouldn’t mind this at all.
“baby,” he tucks a hair behind your ear. “look at me, hm?”
“i love you today,” beomgyu kisses your lips, moves to either side of your cheeks. “i love you tomorrow,” now he’s pressing one on your nose. “the day after,” the last one on your forehead. “until we’re old and wrinkly, i love you.”
your smile in the midst of all his kisses is as wide as it was when you first met beomgyu. you cradle his face, rubbing your thumb over his cheekbones then bumping your noses together briefly. it makes beomgyu laugh, the sound still as pretty as when he stumbled over his words trying to confess to you. “there’s no one else i would have fallen in love with other than you, gyu,”
“my best friend in the world.”

I’ve been tinkering her design for MONTHS and I just love the potential of Big mamas’s assistant- So this is my AU Venus de Milo. I’d like to think of her as a painted turtle yokai, I might change some things idk. Anyways
Tumblr media
I’m trying to go for a “moon” pattern. I also noticed the canon version of her has a tiny shell bump, so AU explanation? She’s a premature child. Shell never fully formed.
I lot of the AU (most of it actually) is written out in traditional storyboard form. Which is annoyingly painstaking to digitalize

Fang AU DTIYS: Compromise
What's this? Me showing up late with a project that was meant to be short but then got way out of hand and became huge...couldn't be me. This is my submission for the wonderful @trilobitepunch DTIYS. I can't draw beyond stick figures, but trilo is a wonderful artist who deserves to be celebrated, so I decided to write something instead. For full context, I highly recommend checking out the full Fang AU tab on Trilo's page. Having said that, congratulations on your milestone trilobug, lets do this!
"Uh...Raphel?"
"Hey CJ," Raph grunted, reveling in the burn of well worked muscles as he pressed the barbell up and away from his chest. Even with the events and marks of the invasion fading further into the past with each day, he didn't think he'd ever again take for granted the ability to control how he moved his body. Whether through the familiar burn of pushing his limits like a boss or fiddling with the puzzles that he'd been assured would help him regain better depth perception in his damaged eye, all of it was beautiful. All of it was...
"It's Raph, remember? Or Raphie. You're pretty much part of the family now kid and pops the only one who regularly bothers with the ael part."
"Oh!  Right, sorry Raphae...Raph..."
"Eh, don't sweat it," Raph rumbled, heart squeezing fondly as he set the barbell on its stand and sat up to give the now rather awkward human his full attention. "Didja need somethin?"
"I was just wondering if you'd seen S-Leo around," Casey Jr asked, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
Their future boy was doing a decent job at settling in and moving with the chaos that made up the Hamato family line, likely a benefit from having been raised by alternate and older versions of them. But that familiarity was a doubled edge sword, and ingrained honorifics like "Sensei" and "Master" were slow to fade from the kid’s vocabulary. That went for personal titles too. Raph still had to bite back the urge to laugh when he remembered the fish-eyed stare Donnie had given the first time CJ had slipped up and called him "Uncle Tello". Somethings were just too priceless, and April had been happy to print him a copy from the security stills. While that version of Raph hadn’t been around to raise Casey Jr, the habit of calling him by his full name was one this version of himself was determined to break.
"Raph hasn't seen him," Raph replied, leaning forward to snag his work out towel from its usual spot next to the dumbbell rack. "Have you checked his room."
“Mhm. I also checked the kitchen, the arcade, and the comic nook. There’s no sign of him.”
"Huh. Maybe he's on his skateboard?" Raph pondered as he wiped the towel across his face and neck.
As a family of awesome, world-saving, kick-butt ninjas, it wasn't odd for them to disappear from time to time. No matter how close they were, sometimes space was needed. Mikey would bake, Raph would organize his plushies, Leo would read comics. Donnie had made an art of disappearing from chaotic or boring situations, starting from when they were kids. The soft shell often needed periods of quietly productive tinkering before he could fully join in on the rough and tumble fun preferred by his harder shelled siblings.
What pushed it into the territory of weird, borderline concerning, however, was the lack of heads up. While they currently didn't need permission to leave the lair, the events of the invasion, and more recently the disaster with the GDF lab, had been weighing on all of them. There was a tension in the lair, a near tangible need to see each other, to be close enough to reach out and touch to confirm that, despite everything, they were all still alive. Mikey was alternated between fine and stage five clingy, constantly draped over Raph’s shell, slinging arm around April, or leaning into Casey Jr as he taught the young man how to cook. The twins had been all but glued at hip throughout their recovery. For Raph, it was a constant effort to not give in to paranoia every time he woke up from dreams of pink slime and pleaded apologies, a herculean effort of will to not lunge forward, ninpo ready, whenever one of the twins turned to fast. Heck, even Barry had all but moved in for a while, choosing to engage in his and Splinter’s endless bickering rather than be separated. It had taken a full month before he was fully confident that the serum was working as intended, and another month and a half before the Yokai had been even semi comfortable returning to his apartment.
When they had had to leave, it had never been without a thousand heads up and an iron clad enforcement of the buddy system. So, for Leo to apparently just disappear...
"Have you asked-?"
They both jumped as the front door to their home slammed open, and a loud, irate voice filled the air.
"Alright, where is he?!"
"April?"
Sure enough, the petite form of their adopted older sister was stalking towards them, drenched to the bone and nearly steaming with irritation.
"Whoa, what happened to you Comma...Apirl?" Casey asked, raising his hands and backing up toward Raphs greater bulk as the pissed off eighteen-year-old girl came into swinging range. CJ was a smart kid.
"Donnie was supposed to meet me at the park this afternoon to run some code tests on our tracking system," April growled, wet shoes slapping the concrete as she stomped over to stand by them, water rolling from clothes and hair alike to form a small puddle. "I figured the fresh air, and space would do him some good. And I told him to be on time, cause the weather app said it was supposed to rain at three."
"Wait... are you saying Donnie never showed up?" Casey Jr asked, trepidation clear in his tone as April tried to fruitlessly squeeze the moisture from her hair.
"Uh huh. I'm not trying to turn "soggy" into the next street style," April affirmed, sarcasm thick as she peeled off her sodden backpack and jacket. "Oh, when I get my hands on that boy! I know he's been in hermit mode the last few days, but not even a heads-up text?! He better build me a new laptop if this one kicks the can! I... wait... what's with the look’s boys?"
"You haven't heard from Donnie at all?" Raph pressed, something in his gut sinking as he and Casey Jr looked first at one another, then at April. "No texts, or calls? What about social media posts? Has he made any ta day?"
"No... now that I think about it... it's been kind of quiet on that front too," April replied slowly, her previous scowl rapidly shifting to a concerned frown as she looked at them. "What's going on?"
"I can't find Leo," Casey Jr sighed, one hand running nervously through his hair. "I didn't want to freak everyone out by sounding a code red if he was just chilling somewhere... but if he's missing, and now Donnie's gone radio silent..."
"Crap," April muttered, eyes widening in realization.
"I'll send out the code," Casey Jr said, the kids face and body language shifting into what they'd all come to call his "super soldier" mode. "Raph, find Mikey and send him to the Hidden City. We can't risk them revealing themselves by targeting unsuspecting Yokai. I'll head to Tío's and get him to shut down the portal there.  Have Splinter call Draxum, then start sweeping the sewers in-"
"Whoa! Slow down now," April cut in, quickly stepping forward to lay a restraining hand on both boys’ arms. "Let's not overreact yet."
"We've lost the twins April, this ain't an overreaction!" Raph rumbled, hands clenching as anxiety for his brothers burned hot and acidic in his veins. "They'll have a head start, and if they've gone rouge..."
"If they'd gone rouge, we would have heard about it by now," April countered, her touch sympathetic as she squeezed his bicep reassuringly. "It would have been all over the web if two rampaging mutants were murdering people downtown, and Hueso is on high alert for anything that might resemble the virus in the Hidden City. Since we haven't heard either, that means they are probably still safe for now. And if they are having a tough time, the last thing we should do is spook them by overreacting, hear me? "
"Yeah, I hear ya," Raph breathed as Casey jr simultaneously deflated with a muttered "yes ma’am".
"Cool," April confirmed with a nod, huffing as a bedraggled clump of curls flopped across her forehead. "Alright, here's the new plan. I'm going to hunt down a towel and my spare set of clothes. You two are going to calmly find Mikey and Splinter, fill them in, and meet me in Donnie's lab. It looks like we're going to test the new tracking system after all."
"On it, Commander!" Casey Jr replied sharply, snapping into a full on salute before taking off towards the kitchen.
"...Dang," April muttered after a few seconds of shocked silence, "He hasn't done that in over a month..."
"Kids stressed. Not gonna lie, Raph gets the feeling."
"I know big guy," April replied, stepping in to hug him as best she could. "Go get Splints, and then we'll find those dumb-dumbs and give them what for."
"Yeah, Thanks April," Raph replied, arms lifting her in an quick bear hug before moving to find their father. Pizza supreme, they were lucky to have a big sister like April.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So, how does this new system work again? I mean, Donnie said he already had trackers on all of us, so why did he make a new one?" Mikey asked from his spot perched atop Raph’s shell as they all huddled around Donnie's computer, watching Aprils' fingers fly across the keys.
"Think of it less as a new system and more of a super charged expansion pack," April replied as her right thumb spammed the space bar. "Donnie wanted a better way to not just track but get ahead of his and Leo's flair ups. Their new chips are, in theory, supposed to transmit bioinformation like cardiovascular rate, respiratory rate, and core temperature. He wanted to include brain waves and neurological patterns, but we agreed to hold off on brain stuff until the base enhancements are out of beta."
"I don't care if they make it all the way through omega. Absolutely no "brain stuff"". Splinter cut in sharply, tail lashing back and forth in an agitated way that had Raph instinctively scooting them back and out of said appendages strike range.
"MmmhmyeahtotalyANYWAY," April quickly agreed, though Mikey watched as a swift click of the mouse swooped several files into a file labeled "Unfolding Genius".
"Point in being is that with this, I can both track the twins and monitor their bio signs for indicators that something has triggered them into a hunt. I had it set up for the trials we were going to run today, but as soon as I disengage that protocol, we'll be able to find both in no time."
"What were you testing today?" Mikey asked, leaning forward to watch as wave after wave of purple binary code rolled across the screen.
"Just some technical stuff, attunement to baselines. Nothing very interesting," April replied nonchalantly.
"Uh, how were you going to get a baseline without-" Casey jr started to ask skeptically, only for the computer to cut in with an obnoxiously loud sound of triumph.
"We got our boys!" April cheered.
"Where are they? Are they hurt? " Raph asked, nearly knocking Mikey from his perch as when the big guy lunged in towards the screen.
"It says they're at... the old lair?"
"Donatello said the area was unstable. Why would they go there?"  Splinter asked.
"Who cares? We gotta go get 'em before they move," Raph replied, and Mikey quickly adjusted his grip as the gentle giant lumbered to his feet.
"I don't have access to the full biometric spectrum yet, but their heart rates suggest they are calm and stationary for now. Mikey, are you getting anything on the mystic end of things?" April asked, wheels screeching against the labs concrete floor as she pushed away from the desk and reached for her bat.
"Not really?" Mikey hedged, lips puckering as he turned his attention inward to poke at their collectively connected ninpo. Their family tapestry was whole once move, thank pizza, blue and purple once more interlocked with red, orange, green, silver-gray, and aquamarine. Yet...
"They're still here, but they're...looser than they should be. Duller. Like they're missing some of their pizazz."
"Then let’s go pizazz things up!" Raph barked, making warmth bloom in Mikey's bones as the big guy turned and stalked out of the lab. Though his biggest brother still had moments where he defaulted back to treating Mikey like a baby, Raph always took his opinion on mystic things seriously.
"Dad, you and April and Casey Jr stay-"
"Hey now!"
"I can help!"
"You guys stay here and prep the lair and the med bay," Raph pushed on, deep voice rumbling across the protests. "They may not need it, but it can't hurt to be prepared."
"We'll call you once we've got them," Mikey promised, tossing his remaining a family his warmest smile as he and Raph headed for the door.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The path to the old lair was painfully familiar, walls and tunnels covered with Mikey's once flawlessly colorful art, now shot with deep cracks and cavernous crevices that still stood as silent testament to the Shredders ferocity. Seeing it, even years later, made something deep in Raph’s heart burn with the urge to either cry or hit something.
They didn't come back here often. The four of them had never discussed it out loud, but the consensus hung like a shroud, a silent accord they'd all secretly signed in their hearts the day they'd scavenged the last of their possessions from the rubble. This place, even for all the happy memories they'd shared with it, was where they had both gained and lost their grandmother. Where home had been forever marred by devastation too painful to be near. The old subway station had been unfamiliar, rough and raw with new potential, but it was their future and all four had leaned into gathering, shaping, and modifying it with every conceivable comfort and curiosity to make that future their new home.
So why would the twins have come here? Had something happened? Were the bio-what-zits wrong? Why hadn't they come to Raph for help? They had promised they'd would, in those family talks with Dr. Feelings (and a rougher session or two with Dr. Delicate Touch). Both Donnie and Leo had sworn to be honest, to tell them if the krangy parts of them were taking over again. Maybe they'd...
"-ph...aph...RAPHAEL!"
"Gah!"
Raph nearly jumped a foot into the air as his baby brother’s shout was accompanied by dexterous fingers prodding at a soft, ticklish spot at the juncture of his neck and shell.
"Aaaaaye! Mikey, what the shell was that for?!" he hissed, jaw flexing as he twisted his head to glare at his passenger.
""I've been calling your name for like the last five minutes!" Mikey scowled in reply, dark eyes returning the heat as they scanned his face. "You missed the turn off for the side door.”
"Oh...Raphs bad," he mumbled, turning away to pretend to look around and "reorient" himself before turning to head back the way they'd come. It was a stupid thing to do. Even half blown to smithereens he still knew these tunnels like the back of his hand, and so did Mikey.
"Soooooooooo...want to talk about it?"
"What "it"?"
"The "it" that's turning your Raph chasm into a Raph crater," Mikey pressed, leaning in closer. "You aren't subtle Raphie. Come on, spit it out."
"Nuthin. I'm jus worried bout the twins," Raph replied, grimacing at how weak and defensive the excuse sounded.
"They haven't moved at all in the last fifteen minutes. Aprils been sending me updates every few minutes to confirm it," Mikey pushed. "What else is rolling around in there?"
"Raph...doesn't like that they went off on their own. I mean, doesn't that bother you too? After all those talks and lectures. After that near miss with April! They oughta know better than to just up and disappear on us!"
"I mean, yeah, you're not wrong. They should have told us they were going out...But they probably wanted their own space, and none of us have been really good at giving them that as of late."
"It's for their own good! They know that! They agreed to it!" Raph growled, agitation growing in his gut as he turned left and stomped down another cross tunnel.
"That's probably why it's taken them this long to pull a Houdini. They've put up with a lot. Draxums checkups, restricted surface time... heck Raphie, we're like, super-limited-edition-mint-condition-lucky that they just went to the old lair instead of the other side of the city."
"So, what do you want us to do Mikey?  Cut'em loose in the Hidden City and hope to pizza supreme that they don't lose their cool and maim a whole bunch of Yokai?! Let'em go out with a "have fun, try not to kill any humans on the way home?!"
"I want my family back to normal Raph! I want to be their brother again, not their jailer!"
"And you think I don't?!"
"I think you-"
The happy jingle of Aprils ring tone cut through their budding argument, bouncing and rebounding off the concrete and rebar. Raph turned his head away as Mikey fumbled for his phone, the muscles in his jaw rhythmically clenching as he chewed over what to do or say next.
Deep down, he knew Mikey had a point. The twins couldn't spend their lives locked up at home. And if he was honest, neither could he. As close as their family was, and as reassuring as it was to have them near, the frustration of being continuously chained to one another was a steadily rising tide under the surface of forced calm. Donnie wanted to go out to the junkyard. Leo wanted to bother Hueso. Raph...Raph really missed hanging out with Casey, the nights were the two of them would meet up to spar and end up gushing for hours about the latest wrestling match and which moves they wanted to try out for themselves. The decision to limit both the information about what happened to a few and limit the family's contact with outsiders who weren't Casey Jr or April had made a lot of sense months ago, but...
"Alright, yeah. We're almost there. Tell Barry to hold off for now, we'll call if we need a portal," Mikey said, pulling Raph’s attention away from his thoughts and back to the dimly lit reality of the tunnel. "Uh huh...yep...I'll text you the level once we get to them, promise. Gotta go Apes. Love."
"Everything good?" Raph asked as Mikey ended the call.
"Yeah. She said she did some techno-thingamagiggy with the trackers and got a better signal. Both icons are in Donnie's old room."
"Oh..."
"Dad also called Barry but told him to stay on standby. And Barry agreed, so we have backup!"
"Cool big man..."
"And...um...I'm sorry-"
"Raphs sorry-"
They blinked at each other for a moment, before bursting out in soft peals of laughter that bounced down the path, warming the space around them.
"J-jinx!" Mikey wheezed, "you owe me garlic knots!"
"Yeah, yeah. I'll tell Hueso ta add'em next time we go...An we'll go soon."
"Soon?"
"Mhm. You're right big guy. We can't live locked up forever, and Raph's sorry for bein a jerk about it."
"You're not a jerk Raphie. You've been doing a lot to keep us safe. I'm sorry if I made it seem like I don't appreciate that."
"Already forgiven. Now, let’s go get our bozos back."
The original entrance to their old home had remained staunchly buried under tons of rubble, but the side entrance that had once served as the garage was still blessedly accessible to Raph's bulk. Water dripped from the ceiling, a softly rolling symphony of drip, plip, plop that beckoned them further in. It was not hard to find and follow evidence of the twin’s passage. Footprints, two sets, disturbed the thick layer of dust on the ground, and pieces of rubble had clearly been moved to widen the path.
Their bedrooms had suffered various degrees of damage from both the fire and falling rubble, and while his lab had been utterly destroyed, Donnie's bedroom had somehow maintained the most structural integrity. The hollow maw of the open door loomed as they approached, what little metal Donnie hadn't stripped when they moved ragged and rusting, hanging like broken teeth that warned against casual approach. Raph felt Mikey shrink back into his shell slightly as he crouched to peer past the door jam.
The twins were scrunched against the far wall, curled around one another on whatever was left of Donatello's bed. Donnie lay with his head in Leo's lap, long legs tucked to his chest. His goggles sat askew on his head, knocked off center by the hands were loosely pressed over his tympanum. Leo sat slumped against the wall; body curved protectively around his other half. The wicked claws of one hand drummed random patterns across the purple titanium of the battle shell Donnie wore while the other hand toyed with the tails of his mask. Soft hisses and churrs filled the air around them, words replaced by more instinctual vocalizations broken every now and then by a higher whistle or a deeper hum. Neither looked up at or acknowledge Raph and Mikey's intrusion.
Raph opened his mouth to call his brothers, but a quick tap on the shoulder redirected his attention to the other brother sitting on his shoulder, and the phone screen that was promptly pushed towards his face.
"They feel weird, lik thy rn't all there. Don't want to startle thm in here." Mikey had hastily written.
Raph quickly ducked back, tucking them against the outer wall before pulling out his own phone.
"R they full gone?"
"No, just loose. Think they're slippin in an out of it mentally."
"Any ideas? Raphs open."
"Operation BF-Prime?”
"Wow. Pullin out the big guns. Raph likes."
";D"
Raph stifled the urge to chuckle as his thumbs flew across the screen of his phone.
"Alright. Text Apes and CJ the plan, then head back the way we came. We're luring them out to the Atrium."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was easier to breathe here in the dark. The dark protected them, far away from the smells and the sounds and the eyes that always watched, always saw. It concealed their weakness, hid away the urge to lunge and claw and...
tap, tap, tippity-tapity tiptiptiptip…
He hissed weakly as the tapping broke through the buzz of their thoughs, tightening his hands as though smothering the ability to hear could smother the thoughts that raced round and round and round inside his head, wobbling nauseously between he, me, they, we, him, us at what felt like breakneck speeds.
A reassuring purr rumbled from their...from Leo's throat in reply.
That was Leo. His twin. One of four brothers. He was Donatello. A genius. A scientist. He loved fashion and dancing and Atomic Lass, and Leo loved the dramatic twists in soap operas and winning and basketball. He had to remember that. Had to organize and amend and enforce it on the thrashing, howling thing in his skull that though in plurals and endlessly chased and craved connection... to be together...together…
Taptaptaptap-CRASH.
They were on their feet in an instant, claws unsheathed, and teeth bared as they warily looked around. The shadows had not changed, but new smells had entered the safe zone. Familiar, so familiar. Family.
Togetherbite...
Nono...no....nobite…
They hissed in displeasure as they stumbled from their den, disapproval and discord swirling in their heads as they followed the path, and the scents, towards the open space in the center.
Those who belonged together...togetherneeded...theyneeded...Bite? No. Nobite. Promised. Promisedwho? Significantpromise? Yes! Promised...
Something sprang from the shadows, arms the size of trees pinning their arms down before hauling them back and in, lifting their feet clear off the floor.
"Mikey now!"
They screamed as fire exploded in their synapsis, thrashing and snarling as bright marigold and blazing red crashed into that thing in their skull, slamming it down with a devastating suplex before binding it in smoldering gold chains. The colors peeled the thing back, pushing it down, down, down and out of their precious space. His space, his mind...
"Donnie!"
 "Mikey?"
The orange flames did not burn this time, permitting only the gentlest heat as they flew back to joyfully whirl around him. His little brother, happiness and sunshine and power incarnate. Their family's true north, constant and sure. He reached for that light, hazy purple seeking relief and finding it offered with open arms. Filaments of marigold wove a gossamer net, pulling him in and up until his head broke the metaphorical surface.
"...be home in five. How they lookin?"
"I got through to Donnie, but he's kinda woozy. I'll work on getting through to Leo next!"
"I sure hope April is ready for us, because we are comin in hot!"
His body was hanging from something, limp legs swaying weakly as whatever held him moved forward in a run. His hands pawed mechanically at something firm and leathery, finding insufficient purchase against whatever held him still. To his right something akin to a lawnmower dying could be heard, high pitched keens sliding down to incoherent rumbles that might, if one were to be extraordinarily generous with the definition, be classified as words.
"Got him! Lee, can you understand me? Blink once for yes, and twice for no!"
Leo...
"GerOooooofffff," Leo moaned, voice guttural as it warbled on the edge of a growl.
His blue-clad brother was tucked under Raphs other arm, hands weakly plucking and scratching at their older brother's forearm in much the same way he had. Slitted pupils glared at their brethren, their...his fangs on full display, a silent warning, and ultimately a hollow one.
 Donnie could see it in the light that gleamed from behind those predators’ eyes, feel it distantly echoing from that thing in his skull that was still pinned down by red and orange energies. Leo was awake and rapidly regaining control over their-his, for the love of shell, his-mental faculties. He wouldn't be a threat to the family. If only Donnie could feel so confident of his own self-control. The world still felt...watery for lack of a better word, like it was contained in the cup Mikey used to clean his brushes. Colors and lights bled, melting down in big looping swirls as his mind fought to preserve the tentatively won separation of turtle and monster. The thing wailed, tugging desperately at the barren threads of his thoughts and powers, trying to pull him back in and down. It needed him. It was him. It was...lonely? Scared? Angry? Confused?
"Almost there Lee," Mikey's assurance pulled his attention back, the familiar sight and scents of their new home drifting into view. "Don't worry, Aprils got operation BF-prime ready to roll, so we'll have you feeling better in no time!"
Operation BF Prime... he knew what that was. He helped design it. With April. It had been his way to apologize, as funny enough, Hallmark didn't make a "sorry my freaky genetic makeup and unpredictable virus-based mutations made me hunt you down and almost kill you" card. So instead, he'd spent hours with her, first on the phone and then in person, coming up with safety procedures that covered the serious, the strange, and even some that were downright whacky. They had talked about what happened, and eventually even laughed. She'd promised that they'd fix things to...toge...
"Special delivery!"  Raph called, charging through the front door without slowing down.
"Main area. April’s getting the last piece."
Casey Jr's scent hit his nose hard, and a strangled hiss slipped through his teeth before he could stop it.
"Easy Dee. Hold your breath for a minute."
He did as he was told, desperately squeezing his eyes shut as he tried to force himself to think about the code. BF-Prime. BF-Prime. Prime. Part of the Alpha series. Top protocol, used for their "bad days" as April put it. B, not A. Not something they'd need Draxum for.
BF stood for...
He squawked as Raph’s arm suddenly disappeared. Limb’s flailing, he dropped into a nest of...pillows? Yes. Feathery soft, well-worn pillows and felty blankets that smelled of the family's detergent.
Oh right... BF stood for blanket fort.
He churred as instinct had him burrowing down, swiftly burying himself in the ocean of softness as Leo hit the pile with an undignified yelp. Gentle fingers tugged off his goggles, smoothing down the creases in his mask before slipping his noise canceling headphones into place. Something big, heavy, and luxuriously silky covered them both, trapping Leo against his back as divinely weighted warmth infused his tight-strung muscles.
Voices, blessedly muted by the protective cone of his headphones, rumbled overhead. Like the burble of water through the pipes, there but easy to ignore.  Less easy to ignore were the fingers that worked their way beneath the blankets and pillows to pry at the safety latches on his battle shell. He growled, mouth opening to snap at the intruder only to be met with something cold and semi-hard being pressed between his teeth. He instinctively bit down, and his mouth was quickly flooded by the refreshingly bland taste of cucumber.
"I know, I know," someone soothed, silky fur tickling the edge of his jaw as that someone adjusted the layers around him. "Bear with us Purple, you and Blue will be more comfortable if they take it off now."
He whined, fangs shredding pleasantly through the cucumber as the latches at his shoulders and hips flipped open. He dipped his head to chase that familiar touch as the weight of his armor was taken away, leaving the softest parts of him open and vulnerable.
"It’s alright, my clever purple. You can rest now; your papa is here."
Weight settled in around him, above and below, side to side, careful not to crowd, but close enough that he could feel their warmth. Leo shifted, rotating until he was laying fully across Donnie’s back, a reassuring pressure protecting his soft shell.
He sighed as cheerful tangerine tugged at the edges of his consciousness, wearily relinquishing his hold on wakefulness as he turned inward, following his little brother’s lead. The supernova that was his family's collective ninpo burst into life, rippling bands of color rich enough to put the aurora borealis to shame eagerly reaching out to draw him closer. Silver-gray, summer green, and vibrant aquamarine joined red and orange in holding back the thing, quieting its incessant howling until it was barely a whisper. He sagged in exhausted relief, swiftly followed by washed out blue as their family bundled them up and held them close.
"You dumb-dumbs," Red buzzed, worry and affection pulling them into its protection. "You scared the shell outa us."
"Sorry Raphie," Leo's blue slurred, sticking close to Donnie's purple even as Casey Jr's aquamarine stubbornly wedged himself in on his other side. "Didn't mean to."
"Why did you leave?" April asked, green sidling in, silently nudging him in gentle recognition when he buzzed in apology.
"Now is not the time for questions" Their father declared, silver-grey stretching to surround them all. "You boys need to rest and regain your balance, we'll talk when you wake up." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He wasn't sure how much time had passed before he woke, pulled from the loving tangle of his family’s network by his body's irritating biological needs. His mouth was dry and tasted of stale cucumber, eyelids itchy and gummy as he tried to blink sleep away from his eyes. His headphones had been knocked off at some point, leaving his tympanum free to begin picking out pieces from the low conversation flowing around him.
"So, who is going to..."
"Hueso said about an hour. Probably accounting for Leo time. So-"
"Dad's going-"
"-been down for a while. Should we wake them?"
"Donnie? Doooooonie. You awake?"
"No," he huffed, shoving his head further into the cradle of his arms when the voices cheered.
"Awake and talking! Good going Dee!"
"I am neither. It's a figment of your imagination."
"Uh huh. Come on big baby, sit up. I've got some flavorless juice here with your name on it."
Warm hands pulled at him, ignoring his grumbles of protest as he was propped upright. A straw slipped between his lips silenced him, but the intrusion swiftly forgiven when his preferred beverage washed the staleness from his tongue and throat.
"There you go. Feel better?"
"Mmmm," he hummed, hand rising to take the cup as he gave up pretense and blinked his eyes open.
He was propped against Raph's plastron at the center of a frankly massive blanket fort. What appeared to be every cushion, pillow, blanket and quilt that the family owned had been piled into the living room, couches and chairs rearranged to provide a stable framework. April knelt to his left, dressed in the spare clothes that she kept in his lab. She seemed to hear his silent question, giving him an exaggerated grimace before replying.
"SOMEONE forgot to meet me at the park, and I got soaked on the walk here."
"Sweet Marie Curie, that was today?!" he gasped, his stomach twisting unpleasantly when April nodded. "I am so sorry April."
"It's alright man. I'm guessing you've been kind of out of it lately."
"Eh, not much more than any other day," Leo chimed in sleepily, and a quick glance to his right found his twin propped up against Raph's legs, firmly sandwiched between Mikey and Casey Jr.
He tried to frown, but like the drowsy smile he got in reply, it lacked any of the real power it should have held. Not when he honestly felt like he could easily fall back asleep if he blinked for too long. His mind was so blessedly silent, the thing muted by the collective weight of his family ninpo, and he was only prevented from drifting by a finger softly poking his cheek.
"Nuh uh, eyes open D. You can go back to sleep after you've eaten something," Mikey nudged, unrepentant as he forced Donnie to open his eyes once more. "Dad is on his way to pick up our favorites from Run of the Mill now. You don't want to miss that!"
"And, while we wait, you two can finally tell us what in the world made you two think disappearing like that was a good idea," Raph groused.
"Oh, yeah...that," Leo replied, voice carefully light and nonchalant as Donnie cringed. "It was really all a big misunderstanding. Dee had an idea, and we wanted to test it out first before we brought it to you guys. Must have lost track of time."
"Leo, you two were basically at alpha level coherence. That's a bit more than "losing track of time"," Mikey countered, his face dressed in earnest concern that border lined on distress, and Donnie felt vindicated when even Leo flinched away from it. "We were really worried about you."
"I'm sorry Mikey. We didn't mean for it to end up like that, I promise," Leo repeated, pulling Mikey in closer for a one-armed hug.
"What were you trying to test?" Casey Jr asked.
"Something, something, big-brained nerd stuff?" Leo replied with a wave of his hand. The attempted deflection fell flat amongst the cushions as all other eyes turned to stare at Donnie.
"I... was testing to see if it were possible for me to "reprogram" the mutations caused by the lingering Krang influence," Donnie answered stiffly, ducking his head as the atmosphere within the fort went tight with tension.
"You what now?!"
"Donnie!"
"And you didn't think we needed to know that?!"
"That's impossible!"
"No, it’s not!" he snapped, neck muscles cramping as he jerked his chin up to glare at the last person to speak, Casey Jr. "Let us recall that I was the one temporarily bonded to the technodrome, and thus I have a far better understanding in regard to its functions than any of you! It was as technological as it was biological. It had functions and subroutines, and it processed information as data. Even if this thing isn't a full technodrome, it still processes information the same way and it is integrated with my ninpo. The same ninpo that lets me replicate any technology I can comprehend?! If I can study this thing, if I can understand its functions, then I should be able to use my ninpo to rewrite them!"
"If it were possible to rewrite krang matter, Uncle Tello would have-"
"That version of me didn't know what I know. I can do things he never even dreamed of."
"Ooookay, let's put that bit aside for now," April cut in quickly as Casey Jr's face darkened. "What were you specifically testing?"
"Nothing complicated," Donnie shrugged, trying his best to ignore the way Raphs unhappy objection vibrated through his leathery carapace. "I was trying to establish what kind of interface the thing requires to send and receive commands."
"And you couldn't have done that here?" Raph prodded.
"No," Donnie replied, shoulders rising as his tone unintentionally turned irritated and snappish.
"Why?" Mikey pressed.
"Because you are all-"
"-distracting," Leo cut in smoothly, one foot nudging Donnie's thigh under the blanket in a clear signal to shut up.
"Oh..."
"It's nothing personal Mikey," Leo soothed, "it's just with everything happening in the lair, it gets loud, and that makes it kind of hard for Donbon to concentrate."
Even after sixteen years, the ease with which Leo pulled together plausible explanations from strands of truth and slivers of fact astounded Donnie.
"That still doesn't explain why you didn't come to us with the idea first," Raph chided, tenacious as a dog with a bone. "Raph isn’t kidding when I say you scared the shell out of us. We nearly called Draxum to find you two!"
"Because you would have listened to us anyway."
The words were bitter on his tongue, and he dragged in another sip of flavorless juice in the awkward silence that followed.
"What do you mean? Of course we would have listened!" Casey Jr protested.
"No, you wouldn't," Donnie shook his head hard, sitting up as he curled his knees up to his chest. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the fingers on Leo's free hand begin to subtly flutter.
"Yes, we would have Dee," April rebutted. "We would have worked with you, just like you and I have been working on the new protocols."
"Any time the thing in my head comes up in conversation, you all shut us down!" Donnie snapped, fingers flexing and flicking as hot irritation filled his chest. "You ask a million questions about what it feels like, what triggers it, how Draxums’ medication does or doesn't affect it, but you don't ask me what I think about it, or what we want to do about it. You act like we'll go rabid if someone sneezes too loud! I can't even be in my own lab without someone watching me. If we'd told you my idea, you would have treated us like invalids, shut it down, and forbidden me to even try!"
"Donatello, that is not fair. We're just trying to-"
"Hang on," Mikey cut in, tone firm as he raised one scarred hand, "Donnie is asking to be heard here, so let's give him the floor and hear him out without interruptions. Go ahead D,"
"It's...I..." Donnie fumbled under the attention, fingers now frantically plucking at handfuls of the blanket as he strained to form some kind of coherent thought from the twisted mess inside of him.
This wasn't right. This wasn't how he wanted to approach things. He needed time to organize his preliminary data, and make a PowerPoint complete with charts and tables. Something visual, and respectable. Something that would make his family understand. Something to tame and order and hold back these gross emotions that stuck to his lungs like tar and gathered along his lashes like pine pitch, burning and stinging and making it hard to breathe or blink. He just wanted...
"We get you guys love us, and we get that you want to keep us safe, but we need you to back off," Leo spoke up, gracefully shifting attention to himself.  Donnie shivered in relief, leaning over with silent gratitude when Leo stretched out to tangle their legs together.
"We need you to treat us like us," his twin continued, shoulders thrown back as a spark of leadership entered his eyes and voice, "like Donnie and Leo, not patient x. We need you to include us in the conversations, not hide them behind closed doors when you think we're not paying attention. You see it protecting us, but all it does is make us feel isomalated."
"Isolated," Donnie corrected, hiding a slight smile of affection in the crook of his elbow when Leo nudged him playfully with his ankle.
"What he said," Leo joked, flashing Donnie a smile and a wink before turning back to the others.
"Raph...didn't mean to make you guys feel like that," the giant of their family replied uncomfortably, one hand rubbing at the edge of the scar that stretched over his eye. "We just didn't want you to have to think about it."
"That ship sailed a while ago for both of us Raphie," Leo replied, a hint of sad frustration sneaking in between the syllables as he spoke. "You heard what Drax said, there is no fixing this, only managing it. This thing is with Donnie and me every second of every day. I wake up fighting the urge to bite something. I walk around the lair, and sometimes I have to stop to sort out which are things I'm seeing and feeling, and what things are from Dontron. Sometimes I dream about hunting and...and that's our lives now. We can't go back, and we can't ignore it.  We have to figure out how to live with it on our terms."
"Is that why you went to our old place? So, you could face it on your "own terms"?" Mikey asked, his usual sunny face solum as Leo shrugged.
"Maybe a little," the red eared slider allowed, raising one hand palm down before tilting it side to side in a so-so gesture. "We also wanted to have some proof of concept before we got everyone's hopes up, and the lair being so crowded does make it hard to concentrate. We figured the old lair was isolated enough that no one would be in danger if we experimented with the thing, but close enough that we could be back before you guys noticed."
The blanket fort was silent for several minutes, and each second felt like it was drilling into Donnie's brain, winding his muscles into tense springs as he waited for his sibling’s judgement to fall.  He could feel the same tension coiling inside Leo, and from the way his fingers were fluttering Donnie had little doubt that if his twin still had his katanas he would have already teleported out of the room.
It was their big sister who finally broke the silence.
"I'm sorry you guys."
"It's fine Apes,"
"No, it's not," she shook her head, one hand landing on Donnie's shoulder as she reached out to Leo with the other. "You guys shouldn't have to feel like you need to hide things from us in order to have a say, and you shouldn't feel ostracized in your own care either. We did that, and I'm sorry for my part in it."
A chorus of "Me too," "Our bad," and "I'm sorry guys", closely followed her statement.
"Aww, you saps," Leo teased, but the smile he gave as Mikey and Casey Jr pinned him a hug was his genuine smile, big and warm and a little crooked.
"We'll do better. Raph promises," Raphel added, and Donnie allowed himself to be swept into his big brother’s arms with only a minor theatrical groan.
"Yes, yes, acknowledgements and apologies given and received all around. Now please loosen your grip. I don't currently have the proper equipment to withstand a full force Raph hug."
"Yep, that's our Donnie! Sensitive as a soaked cat."
"I beg your considerable pardon! I-"
"-am gonna quit stalling and tell us the results of test you guys ran. Come on, I'm dying to know! " April redirected the conversation with teasing poke to his ribs.
"Sadly, the results were less than conclusive," Donnie reluctantly admitted, resuming his slumped posture against Raph’s plastron once he was released from the hug. "It does seem to have some form of OS, but one that doesn't respond to scripts like java, python, or R."
"Did you really think it would?"
"It was possible," Donnie shrugged, new energy sparking through his thoughts as excitement for his ideas blossomed. "It is part of me after all, so theoretically it could have altered itself to fit my cognitive process the same way it altered itself to my biology. And it has, only it hasn't altered to fit my way of thinking, but rather to fit my ninpo!"
"Wait, you think in code?" Mikey interrupted.
"Sometimes. It saves time."
"How does that even-"
"Shhhhhhhhhhhh, don't question the nerd logic," Leo counseled as he casually covered Mikey's mouth. "Just roll with it. It's way easier, trust me."
"Are the interruptions done?" Donnie sniffed primly, holding down a smirk by sheer will as his blue and orange dumb-dumbs nodded in tandem.
"Right, as I was saying, I was able to ascertain that the thing is adapted to receive signals from ninpo, which is likely why it can be effectively suppressed for short periods of time by our collective network. We are likely overloading its command center."
"Okay, it takes commands from ninpo. Can that help with you guys going all hissy and bitey on us?"
"Theoretically? The issue is that while it might be responsive to ninpo, there seems to be an additional code needed in order to deliver and process commands. Some combination I have yet to determine. It also seems that the thing is very sensitive regarding the specifics of the delivery method."
"I'll say," Leo chimed in, "that thing is more sensitive than a diva on a bad day."
"Something you'd know nuthin about, right Lee?" Raph teased, sending the whole fort into riotous laughter as Leo gasped with playfully theatrical afront.
"Hey now, don't come crying to me for secrets when you start getting dry scales and crow’s feet while my skin is still dewy soft and gorgeous!" Leo jabbed back, batting his eyes as their big brother roared with laughter.
"Okay, okay, focus guys!" April giggled, leaning over Donnie to swat at Leo's knee. "Finish telling the story."
"Not a whole lot left to tell," Leo shrugged, covertly glancing at Donnie as the others reigned in their mirth. Something pulsed between them, a bundle of wordless intent and questions that Donnie could not parse but understood all the same. The nod he gave was minuscule, barely a dip of his chin, but Leo seemed to read it all the same.
"The thing got all riled when Donnie tried to feed it his nerd script. I think it tried to eat us again, but I kept a grip on things while DonDon here played scientist. It worked pretty good for a while, but I guess it kind of crept up on us without us realizing and won out when you guys startled us. Which, on that note, good call going with the main room for the ambush."
"That was Raph! I was the one who initiated operation BF-Prime" Mikey chimed in, beaming when Leo playfully rubbed his knuckles across the top of Mikey's head.
"Whoa, the big brain over here is coming for my job!" Leo praised.
"So, you were able to keep control, even as Donnie was messing with the thing?" Casey Jr asked, a thoughtful look crossing his face as he looked between Leo and Donnie.
"It appears so," Donnie nodded, the tips of his fangs needling the skin of his lower lip as he searched for the correct descriptive words. "It was like...like being in an ocean. As long as Leo stayed at the surface, I could dive under and still find my way back up."
"If that’s true then...maybe we could use that as the basis for some new protocols."
"Oh?" Donnie replied warily, barely resisting the urge to pull away as the attention zeroed in on Casey Jr. "What kind of protocols did you have in mind?"
"One's that let us help you guys’ figure this out, on your terms," Casey Jr assured, shifting away from Leo slightly to better face the group. "We were wrong to shut you guys out, but we also can't risk what might happen to you guys if we don't proceed with some caution. So, as a compromise, what if we set up a new system, using parts of your old home as a central testing ground. If we outfit it with security features, then you and Leo could have a stable place to both get space from us and to test out your control of the thing. The security could link to your computer here, and one of us could monitor it and be prepared to respond if something goes sideways."
"If we get the new tracking system working, we could even be collecting other lines of data that could be used for comparison later!" April chimed in, excitement growing in her voice.
"And if something did go wrong, we could be there in no time!" Mikey added, nodding enthusiastically.
"Hmmmm...doesn't sound like a terrible idea," Leo slowly nodded, another indescribable pulse pressing against the back on Donnie's mind as he too slowly nodded.
"Indeed... though I have some thoughts. Like, how you would get in to assist us should we need it. Baring the side entrance, most of the old lair is too unstable to provide an additional access point."
"Simple, we'll portal in," Casey Jr replied.
"Wait...you mean I get my katanas back?!" Leo perked up.
"You both said you were able to stay anchored while Donnie poked the krang hound," Casey Jr nodded, fingers drumming back and forth across his knee as he spoke. "Your portals, in combination with the proposed alert system, should mean we'll be able to reach you in time to prevent the situation from devolving to alpha levels. What do you both think?"
"I could definitely handle the security measures so long as we keep it to portions of the atrium, and perhaps my prior abode," Donnie hummed, his mind already whirling through possible schematics and upgrades. "It would necessitate a trip to the junkyard."
"Okay. How about the day after tomorrow? Raph can help you carry back whatever ya need."
"Now that I have portal privileges back, we can drop supplies directly to the old lair and still have time to go to Hueso's!" Leo boasted, the joy from the return of his weapons turning the atmosphere of the fort tangibly sweet as they all continued to throw out ideas and suggestions for what Donnie quickly dubbed the "Theta" protocols. The conversation rolled on, slowly morphing from serious planning to outrageous boasts mixed with increasingly hairbrained proposals and double dares. The soft walls of the fort cocooned them in the warmth of and joy of their laughter, blocking out the world and its many problems for at least one night. Nothing, not even biology altering aliens, could pull them apart. "Heeeello?! Is anyone hungry or will I have to eat these pizzas by myself?"
Well, maybe not nothing.
"Pizza!"
Their fathers voice led to a stampede as the aromatic scent of cheesy, grease goodness filled the air. They all scrambled to find and exit, dirty tactics and old tricks liberally employed as each member of the family raced to be first in the kitchen.
"I call first go!"
"Keep your mitts off my meat lovers!"
"Hawaiian all the way baby!"
"It doesn't matter how many times you say it Nardo, pineapple on pizza is still an affront to decency!"
"Oh yeah? How about you decent deez-"
"Boy, do not even finish that sentence!"
Their father was waiting for them, already tucking into a slice as they all scrambled to grab their plates and divy up the spoils.
"Mmmmmmm is there anything better than the boneman's pies?" Leo moaned as he sank his teeth into a perfectly gooey slice.
"It's no hot soup, but I suppose it will do," Their pops teasingly grumbled, ears swiveling to lay flat as his words garnered rather loud protests.
white lies and dear laughter
Summary: Naive little clones will ever be teased by fond fathers. AU: Ik'aad Taglist: @kybercrystals94 @fionas-frenzy @padawancat97 @margindoodles2407 @dreamsight73 @groguandthebadbatch @sskim-milkk @leapingbadger
Author's Note: A Merry Christmas to each and every one of you! Apologies for how late this has been released, but I did want to write one as a Christmas present all the same! Hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!
Wrecker, munching on his third ration bar of the hour (courtesy of Crosshair having pilfered extras from the mess hall), found himself under the squinty-eyed scrutiny of their youngest one quiet evening on Tipoca City. Or as quiet as a forever-storming planet could get, at least.
“Buir,” said Omega, standing on her tiptoes with one little hand holding his shoulder for balance, gently poking the side of his face, “Wha’ happen’ to your ear?”
The sounds of Tech’s tinkering came to a halt; Hunter’s mug of tea paused halfway to his mouth; Crosshair pulled the red paintbrush away from the pauldron with tense shoulders. The fabric of time pinched in a grimace, hanging suspended for what seemed like one very long moment. A silence spanned the distance between the brothers across the barracks, thick enough to be cut into neat cubes and given to keep Clone Force 99 (hungry daughter included) full for an entire week.
But Wrecker had been waiting for this question for a very long time.
And by that, he meant ever since he'd first held her.
“Oh,” he said, swallowing his bite of ration bar and laughter. It took a significant amount of willpower not to grin, but he managed it all the same, ducking his head just in case his face betrayed him.
“You ate it, tracyn.”
Hunter choked on his tea.
One of Tech’s fingers lifted with his fisted hand in that way it always did before a lecture, but a paintbrush struck his goggled face before he could say anything else.
Crosshair glared at him to shut up unless you want more red paint across your cheeks.
Frowning, Tech took the hint.
“What?!” Omega squeaked, drawing back a little to search his face
“Wrecker,” Hunter reprimanded weakly, shaking with coughs.
Wrecker only looked back at her with what he hoped was a convincing show of sincerity. “Uh-huh! You were real hungry one night, so you snuck up to my bunk and chewed my ear right off.”
Little mouth agape, she turned back to poke at the scarred shell of his ear once more. He didn’t register much feeling there anyways, but she was still very careful when she touched the area.
“An’ wha’ ‘bout this one?” she demanded, her eyebrows knitting together. He heard more than felt her finger tapping the atrophied skin close beside his ear, the soft and muted little thuds of her fingertip against his bone like the way a heart beat against a sternum.
He shrugged. “You screamed so loud one night it made my skin fall off.”
That made her go very quiet as she stared at the side of his head. The barracks fell into yet another bout of heavy silence, all four of the clones giving their whole attention to the girl by Wrecker’s side. The rain outside was loud and insistent, muffled though it was by the thick transparisteel. It felt like a collective breath was being held, the anticipation of Omega’s reaction simply too great to bear.
For a second, he wondered if he’d gone too far.
Her finger trailed along his scars, ever so tender in the way it traced out crooked shapes and patterns. “Hurts?”
Well, hurt isn’t the exact word a clone commando would use, least of all a 99 enhanced for strength. Itchy, yes. Sensitive, maybe a little. Sometimes there was a dull ache around the region, other times it felt like he was standing right next to a star going supernova.
But he’d given Omega enough to think about for one rotation, he decided, so he settled on simplicity. “A little, ya know? Sometimes.”
A small, sad noise erupted from the back of her throat, and she looked into his mismatched eyes earnestly, her brown gaze sparkling. “Can I kiss it better?”
He blinked, startled.
Then smiled, warm and true, affection melting his heart.
“’Lek Om’ika,” he laughed fondly, “You can kiss it better.”
And like the sun piercing through Kamino’s storms, her face lit up bright, her mouth spreading in a wide and toothy grin.
Once more pushing up to her tiptoes, even though he bent for her sake, she reached up and pecked, ever so kindly and sweetly, first his temple and then his ear.
“All better,” she declared triumphantly, leaning back and patting the scars.
Past her happy face and over her bouncing curls, his brothers were all watching with a soft joy that was common in her presence. He wondered if he looked anything like them when he gazed at her, then quickly dismissed that thought as stupid because of course he did.
With yet another hearty laugh — something else that was common in her presence — he hooked an arm around her little form, drew her close, and pressed a lingering kiss to one round cheek, smiling when she squealed and giggled.
“Everything’s always better with you, ner ik’aad.”
Flutter - Chapter One
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: Mafia AU. Characters may act darker than you are used to. There will be adult content in later chapters. Steve is unhappily married at the start so there is cheating but not on Reader.
18+ Only.
Steve Rogers preferred to have meetings in the comfort of his home. On his own territory where there was no question who was in charge. But Stark’s boy had been causing issues at one of Steve’s clubs and he needed to make certain it wasn’t the beginning of a power play. Tony Stark was one of the few in the city that could cause real problems for Steve if he so chose.
So this meeting was taking place on “neutral” territory. An exclusive restaurant with private rooms and respect for its patrons’ privacy. If it was owned by one of Rogers’ shell companies, well, no one needed to know that.
The glow of the candle on the table flickered as Steve finished his meal and leaned back in his chair. His eyes scanned the faces of his companions as they too finished eating. Bucky Barnes sat to his right as always. His best friend since childhood and the only person he trusted without question. They had always been there for one another and Steve saw no reason that would ever change. Sam Wilson was on Steve’s left. He was a newer addition to the family but had proven himself more than reliable.
Across from him, Tony Stark lounged with an easy grace that belied the tension in the room. He sipped at his drink as his dark eyes studied Steve. It wasn’t often they found themselves at odds and neither man liked it. Stark much preferred drinks in Steve’s office than an awkward meal followed by thinly veiled threats. Bruce Banner sat to Tony’s left. He looked more like an accountant than an enforcer but he was one of the most feared men in the city. He was ruthless when it came to protecting Stark and his family. Clint Barton filled the last chair. As usual the man appeared completely at ease. Steve was fairly certain Barton would have a smile on his face and a quip on his tongue in the middle of a slaughter.
“Let’s just cut to the chase, shall we?” Tony began, his voice smooth and strong like aged whiskey. “I have no intention of going against you. I’m not interested in being king. I just want to run my business as I always have. Let me tinker with my toys, let the cash flow and keep the streets just clean enough that the cops stay out of our hair.”
Steve’s gaze lingered on Tony, assessing the truth of his words. They’d operated in this city side-by-side for years. He didn’t see why it should stop now. He trusted Stark. But Peter, Peter was another matter entirely. Steve knew very little about him beyond the fact Tony had adopted him as a teenager. And he was smart, just like Stark. The boy was getting older, nothing said he couldn’t be getting power hungry as he aged.
Steve leaned forward and tapped his fingers on the table. “I like to think I can trust you, Tony. We’ve worked together for a long time. But you’re not the one causing issues. I need a guarantee that this is over. You can promise me anything you want but we both know you can’t control Peter.”
Tony pursed his lips but nodded in agreement. He could try to rein Peter in but there was no guarantee he’d be cooperative. “What do you need from me, Rogers? I don’t want a war but I’m not going to hand my empire over just because my kid stirred up trouble in one of your clubs.”
Bucky snorted a humorless laugh. “Stirred up some trouble? He put two of our men in the hospital. Nearly killed one of them.”
Steve held up a hand to cut off the rant. He rubbed a hand across his mouth and sighed. “I’m not going to pretend what he did was okay but it’s the fact that he claimed to be putting them in their place when he did it that is the real issue here. I can’t have him running around on a power trip, Tony. We both know what that sort of shit leads to.”
Tony rubbed at his forehead before raking his hand through his hair. “What can we do to get back to where we were? What would make you trust us again?”
“An engagement,” Steve said. The surprise of everyone in the room was obvious though they all tried to hide it. It was an unusual move but it would bring the Starks back under his control and might rid him of the irritation of his stepson at the same time. It would make Roman someone else’s problem.
“I’m flattered, but I’m already married,” Tony finally said.
Steve’s lips twitched. “Your daughter, my stepson Roman.” He leaned back and gave a lazy grin. “Everyone knows family is everything to the Starks. So we become family. Peter won’t want to embarrass his sister, he’ll behave and I won’t question your loyalties.”
Tony’s tongue darted out to lick his lips. “An engagement.”
“Family’s important,” Bucky said. “Imagine what ours could do together.”
Tony nodded slowly as he considered his options.
“Pepper won’t like it,” Bruce muttered.
“Pepper will like us having peace with Rogers,” Tony corrected absently as his mind calculated all the possible outcomes, weighed the pros against the cons. Morgan was young yet. He could push the marriage off until she was twenty. Maybe Roman would get himself killed in the meantime. He had a tendency to piss people off. This could work.
“Alright,” Tony murmured. “I agree.”
Steve’s lips curled up ever so slightly in the mere shadow of a smile. “Then we have an understanding.” He leaned forward slightly, the movement minor but deliberate. He held out his hand waiting for Tony to take it, to seal this agreement in the old way. Now it was all contracts and paperwork, but this family started in a time when a man’s word was law and a handshake was as good as a signature.
When Tony didn’t immediately take it, Steve arched a brow and said his name. “Tony.” There was a question in his tone, wondering if his old friend meant to keep to his word or betray it already.
Tony hesitated a moment more as his dark eyes ran over Steve. He was either questioning whether he should actually enter the arrangement or if Pepper was going to kill him for doing so. Morgan was the princess of the family. Which was why she was the perfect inducement for Peter to behave.
Finally, they clasped hands and Tony gave the ghost of a smile. “You’ve got an agreement, Rogers. Guess this makes us family.”
Bucky huffed a humorless laugh. “Make sure to point that out to your son.”
Tony’s jaw tightened. “I’ll make it clear as crystal.”
Steve leaned back and placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder with more force than necessary. “Tony doesn’t need a lecture, Buck. He knows what’s at stake.”
Their business concluded, they rose to their feet in unison. Chairs scraped across the floor as they headed for the door. They exited out the back and stepped out into the quiet of the night. With one last nod goodbye they separated to their own vehicles to head to their own parts of the city.
***
Steve stepped into his house with a sigh. His gaze immediately found his stepson Roman where he sprawled sideways in a chair, one foot on the floor and the other leg draped over the arm carelessly. He was playing some sort of videogame and ignored Steve’s presence completely.
“Roman.” The name was not a greeting but a summons. A call for attention which Roman ignored as usual. “We need to talk. Now.”
When he still didn’t respond, Steve crossed the room and pushed the power button on the console.
Roman’s head snapped up. “What the fuck are you doing? I was playing that.”
“No shit. I guess you should have paid attention when I told you we needed to talk.” Steve smacked Roman’s foot that was hanging in the air. “Sit up when I talk to you.”
The boy did as instructed, though the resentment was obvious in every movement. Steve resisted the urge to roll his eyes. “I had a meeting with Stark tonight. We came to an agreement. You’re now engaged to his daughter. Congratulations.”
Roman shot up from the chair as if it were on fire. “Are you fucking kidding me? I’m not marrying that bitch. You’re out of your damn mind.”
“Watch the tone,” Steve snapped. “Don’t forget who you’re talking to.”
“And I suppose I’m just supposed to give up the club and the women, for what? A ring and a lifetime of catering to daddy’s little princess?”
“If you know what’s good for you, you will. You know Stark won’t stand for any disrespect. You won’t have to marry right away. Get it out of your system now.”
“What’s going on down here?” Sharon’s grating voice drifted down the stairs in front of her.
Steve glanced over and flicked his eyes over the ridiculous robe she was wearing, a pale blue satin number with fake feathers at the neck and cuffs.
“Mommy, Steve engaged me to Stark’s daughter.” The whine had a headache blossoming behind Steve’s eyes. For fuck’s sake. The kid was twenty-two not ten.
Her eyes snapped to her husband. “You can’t just make decisions like this for him. You’re not his father.”
Steve took a step forward. “Can’t I?”
Roman’s backbone was apparently restored with the presence of his mother. “No, you can’t. You don’t own me.”
The corner of Steve’s lips flicked up in amusement. “It’s cute, really, how you think you have a choice.” He brushed imaginary lint from his shoulder then slid his hands into his pockets. “You both live lavishly because I allow it. Your comfort is due solely to my generosity.”
Sharon swallowed and lifted her chin to stare him down. “If you think you can bully us into—”
“You both,” he said, cutting her off, “enjoy a life others can only dream of. My terms are simple. Comply or forfeit everything.”
He paused to give his words a chance to sink in. “Think it over. The clock is ticking and my patience is in short supply.”
Roman’s gaze dropped first, defeat coloring his features. Sharon followed suit, her defiance crumbling in the face of the reality Steve laid bare. Everything they had, they owed to him.
Steve’s gaze flicked between them. “Good. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have business to attend to.”
This story is about an AU by @janus-cadet , in which the fifteenth Doctor, The Toymaker, Rogue and the Master are a polycule.
Go check it out!
This oneshot is specifically about Rogue dealing with past grief and loss, as well as his insecurities about his current relationships.
Rogue walks through his ship, tenderly running his fingertips along various edges as he walks by. It’s definitely cluttered, barely any free space left. ‘The things you don’t recognise are called surfaces‘, the Doctor had said, leading him into his Tardis for the first time.
And maybe the Doctor is right - maybe his ship is due for a cleaning. Maybe there really are some things he no longer needs.
Even thinking about it gives him anxiety. The thought of his ship, empty and clean, feeling akin to the almost sterile glow of the Tardis. All light and space.
He can’t.
He can’t change anything, because then it won’t be like it was when it was still them and not just him.
Its stupid. Ridiculous and sentimental, useless. Keeping everything as it had been before wouldn’t bring them back. Nothing would, and nothing could. Yet there he is, stuck in time every time he enters his own ship, staring at those metaphorical footprints in the sand. Traces of a shared life put on halt permanently. Their last moment together, caught in amber - preserved in in perfect clarity, yet just as dead.
Rogue stops apruplty, his gaze caught on an irregularity.
Something isn’t right. Something is different.
Something is… missing.
He ignores the immediate surge of panic flaring up inside of him, taking away his breath, making his heart kick into overdrive.
Nonetheless, his breathing turns shallow, his gaze burning a hole into the empty space where something used to be.
‘Nothing ever truly gets lost, you just have to find it’ they had always said.
You just have to find it.
But nothing ever changes in his ship, because he doesn’t dare to touch anything, to truly live in it. He’s too afraid of change, too afraid of moving on.
So if something is missing, that means someone took it.
Someone.
Who? Why? Who could hate him enough to do such a thing? He can certainly think of plenty people that hate him, thanks to his activity as a bounty hunter - but none of them would choose these kinds of convoluted, cruel mind games over a bullet to the head. Or a laser, particle beam, very sharp rock - depending on the person.
None of this makes sense.
There’s nothing he can do now, to stop the walls from closing in on him.
Everything here reminds him of them, and he’s losing them all over again. He failed to keep them safe, and now he is failing to honor their memory.
How could he have managed to lose track of the toy they gave him?
…toy.
It’s a toy that’s missing.
Suddenly, the many possibilities of who could have taken it are narrowed down considerably.
Clenching his teeth way too hard, he turns around sharply, leaving his ship.
He knows just where to go.
No matter how often he’s been in the Tardis by now, it’s still just as impressive as the very first time. Something so vast and powerful, hidden in such an inconspicuous shell. Much like the Doctor himself, now that he thinks about it.
Speaking of which - the Doctor is happily tinkering on the console, up to his arms in cables when he notices him approach.
“Rogue, honey! It’s so good to see you!”
Then, noticing his dark expression, that brilliant smile gives way to compassion and concern.
“What’s the matter?”
“The big teddybear from my ship,” he forces out through clenched teeth. “It’s gone.”
The Doctor, sensing the severity of the situation, lays down the piece of technical equipment he had been holding, and lays a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“I’m sure we’ll find it again. Did you ask the Toymaker? It is a toy after all, sort of his speciality. Even if we don’t find it, I’m sure he’ll be happy to make you a new one.”
Rogue stiffens.
“I think he took it.” The words taste of bile, and betrayal.
“I don’t know why. But who else could have?”
The Doctor, ever understanding, doesn’t recoil. There’s no judgement in those warm eyes, only curiosity.
“Did you ask him?”
“No. I don’t think I should talk to him in this state.”
Because he’s angry, and hurt, and terrified, and he doesn’t want to say the wrong thing, break something that can’t be repaired. He doesn’t want to shatter the hesitant trust that the entity had seemingly started developing for him. But if he’s right…
“I mean, I still sometimes feel like they only have eyes for you. Which, fair - have you seen yourself? I don’t blame them, it’s normal to take some time getting used to someone new. But I thought… I don’t see why he would…”
He’s pulled into a tight hug, immediately burying his face in the crook of the Doctor’s neck. He hates how vulnerable his voice sounds. He should be better at handling this, more adult.
“I knew they were both apprehensive about me joining, but I thought they ultimately agreed. What if he lied? What if he hates me, and wants me gone? He could have been too nervous to say no, scared to disappoint you…”
“Don’t sell yourself short babes, I’ve seen the way he looks at you. You’ve been bonding lately, haven’t you?”
“I thought so too. But maybe I said or did something wrong-“
“Come on honey, have some faith in him. Have you considered he might be trying to do something nice?”
Rogue freezes.
How stupid of him. Of course the Toymaker couldn’t know what that particular toy means to him.
Of course he wouldn’t have devised this to hurt him. What an awful assumption to make about someone who had been nothing but kind and understanding.
Thank god he had come to the Doctor first.
“I… do you think so?”
The Doctor’s smile is bright and warm, comforting. Immediately, Rogue’s heart feels lighter.
“You’ll just have to wait and see.”
The Doctor’s hands tangle in the front of his jacket, pulling him closer. He follows along easily, grateful for the affection.
“For now, I know just how to distract you~”
When Rogue steps back into his ship, feeling significantly more relaxed and happy, his eyes immediately seek out that empty space.
Which is no longer empty.
The Teddy is back. It’s grimy, matted fur is no longer dusty, its limbs no longer ripped. There’s nothing creepy about it now - it looks… nice. It’s undoubtedly still the same bear, only now it’s fluffy and soft, comforting.
There’s a note attached, on lilac paper. With shaking hands, Rogue reaches out to read it.
“You should really take better care of your toys, this one was all broken. Luckily, as your partner, I’m willing to help out!
-T <3”
Carefully, making very sure not to crinkle it, Rogue slips the note into the inner pocket of his jacket. To be treasured and kept safe forever.
He runs his fingers through the fur of the big bear, letting the sensation of it sink in. Somehow, it no longer looks like a depressing reminder of his past, of what could have been. It looks… sweet. Comforting.
Dark AU: more necromancy in specific detail. Credit to @mangyraccooon for the bit about the masks and jewelry.
When the raising of the dead was dependent on his manipulation of electricity, there was a glaring oversight to consider: if he wasn’t in direct physical contact with the corpse, neither was his electricity.
No electricity meant no reanimation.
The workaround is simple enough on paper, but it pushes the limits of what Armament is capable of.
Back in the Arena, the old samurai who was held in the alcove across from his own… Dragon owed them much for what little they had the time to teach. Without the fundamentals of Ryuo, this would have been outside the realms of possibility. As would have been his escape, as well.
The answer came to him with a flip of a coin. Literally.
Gold, silver, copper, all of them highly conductive metals. A coin in the mouth as a focus, lips sewn shut to keep it there, a shock of devil fruit begotten electricity imbued with Armament to sustain the charge… Between that and the conductive qualities, he has… maybe ten or so minutes of reanimation time before he must recharge the coin. Not a long lasting battery, but a battery nonetheless.
With your typical corpse, a coin is the go to option. They are everywhere when you’re a pirate, and they are small and convenient to place. Also poetic, given a number of burial customs around the Blues.
An atypical corpse, like that of a crew mate who has pledged their flesh after the life leaves it? A coin alone would not do. Those he cared for deserved better. Lindbergh provides.
The bodies of friends and loved ones are chilled on beds of collected hailstones, carefully cleaned and wounds sewn closed. Dragon wraps them in segmented shells of decorative copper wire mesh. A death mask of the same is fixed to their heads, their facial features recreated in delicate knotwork by the cat mink and his fellow tinkerers. Their necks, their wrists, and their ankles are the only things that go unadorned.
One might see a zombie dressed in these metal trappings and think that the Vulture King has desecrated the graves of lower world monarchs, but this is far from the truth. They are the most beloved among the corpses he puppets, because in life they were his friends.
Their service in death is ended when the body is either too decayed to respond to his influence, or has been damaged in battle beyond mending. The adornments are removed and the body eaten. The mesh shell is melted down to make new wire for honoring new corpses, but the mask is given a different end.
The mask is strapped to the balustrades of the Mantaro, untreated so that the saltwater patinas and corrodes the metal. Hundreds if not thousands of faces in a million shades of copper and verdigris interlock like scales along her flanks. Many sailors in the East Blue and Paradise tell of her passing them by in the fog, the gleaming masks singing like wind chimes…
When one of these masks falls into the sea, it is not cause for grief. It just means the soul has found its peace, and the Rain God has called it home beneath the waves.
I could see h2 no au reader having octopus tentacles bc im biased and have fixated on octopi’s before bc of another fandom and they’re pretty cool too!
octo mer reader would have to struggle with their constantly moving tentacles that seem to have a mind of their own
the platonic yans and reader’s friends would need to deal with reader being able to contort their tentacles into any small hiding space their uper half can fit in
i also imagine octo mer reader would have a tendency to tinker around with whatever junk they find bc of those videos of octopi’s using litter they find in the ocean to build homes and such and also a love of puzzles because of octopi having been known to be vary intelligent creatures that are capable of braking out of their inclosures when put in aquariums
i could also see reader having the tail and some of the traits of a moray eel bc they’re neat lil sea noodles too
Those are good ideas! And I love octopi, too! They're so cute and squishy and bloody!
Octopus Mer/Siren Reader would struggle a bit, because instead of having two legs, or a tail, they have eight wriggling, suction-cup lined tentacles, and they're hard to control at times. Reader feels anxious, their tentacles start writhing and curling against each other. They're scared, they're inching into everh crevice and crack they can find. They're angry, they start picking up rocks and shells like a ball they plan to toss at someone. And they can create clouds of ink. Which feels weird, because what. The. H*ck. How... how do they even do that? Reader is trying to swim with their friends, and has to have help because they keep getting distracted and trying to pick up stray shells and junk, wanting to make something or collect it, and their friends just have to keep reminding them to go with the flow. Reader sees the platonic yans, and is immediately dragging thenself across rocks and out of the water to get away, like a scared wet kitten or spider, and the platonic yans are trying to caox them back into the water with shiny rocks and fresh seafood and promises of a safe, dark napping place. Reader, if they were an octopus mer/siren, would love puzzles! All kinds of puzzles! Little wooden ones, jigsaw puzzles, even some word puzzles! Their friends like doing them with Reader, because it's perfect team bonding and Reqder is happy, so why not? Especially if they can do it in mer form!
Littlr eel mer/siren Reader would be a wiggly bean, just trying to figure out how to keep going, and trying to snag some food for their friends. They love hiding, and especially love hide-and-seek! They just... they don't really know how to deal with a such a long tail. The platonic yans are happy to seek Reader when they're hiding, and will do their best to grab their noodle of a pup, but it gives even them a swim for their pearls as they try to hold such a little wiggle worm! Eel mer/siren Reader would be good at curling up, and would just wrap themswlf around their friends if they were cold or scared. They're a good noodle!
(Reader would have a hard time with whatever tail they had, but it's always interesting when they have one that's different from most fish/sea creatures!)
NEW AU ALERT!!
Presenting!! The Robo!Rise AU!!!
Tumblr media
In this AU Draxum doesn't mutate turtles, he instead builds little robot turtles he wants to use as weapons but when he tries to use Lou jutsu’s Hamato energy to power them they end up becoming sentient and Splinter takes them away!
(More info/Character sheets under the cut!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Little notes about the AU!
-The turtles do run on batteries and need to recharge at night (splinter didn't find that out for a while and thought he killed them at first when they where little)
-Splinter stays only about half human in this but changes his appearance a lot anyway- (think freshly mutated splints all the time)
-the turtles are children when they first grow sentient, and they are built to look like baby turtles (Draxum wanted them to be smaller warriors but he just ended up making children on accident)
-they do grow mentally and Donnie, even when he’s very young, likes to tinker with his siblings and make them bigger (Growing up physically)
-Mikey around 4 years old wonders into the sewer tunnels and finds a way up to the surface, being the curious one he is, he goes up and wonders but runs out of battery quick, Lil April finding him soon after and taking him back home and finding a way to charge him. (she has no idea who or what he is) once They were awake again chaos ensues and she evenchually gets him home and meets the others and splints.
-splinter is a dumbass and has so idea how to care for 4 robots that act like children so he tries to just ignore them but when they keep bothering him with little chirps and shiny things they found his heart melts and he gets his shit together to raise them (even if he has no idea how)
-Donnie’s shell is covered by a sort of leather instead of metal like his brothers, his robot was built with more agility in mind.
-Mikey is the smallest because after a while he didn't like Donnie upgrading him so much so Donnie stopped, Raph on the overhand didn't care at all so Donnie kept adding things (made her much bigger and built like a tank)
-their faces are screens that they can control and customize so it moves with their voices and emotions.
So, I noticed that Tinker-the-dragon showed you storyboards of their own animatic (which looks great btw, can't wait to see it), and since you said you enjoyed seeing the process, I figured I'd do the same! After all, having people acknowledge and get excited for my WIPs gives me a sense of accountability to finish it, which makes it much more likely to actually get done.
So, behold my chaotic, colorful rough sketches!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The process is slow-going, since I am simultaneously working on a couple other creative projects, some are tangentially related to this one (like how I'm finalizing my headcanon designs for all the turtles beyond just Donnie), and some aren't (like drawing long overdue art of my D&D party's characters).
I'm also making some guesses/taking some liberties when it comes to the timeline. Like, I'm assuming that this AU takes place post S2 finale, and thus will take place in the new lair, but I don't actually know. (If this has been addressed in asks before, I'm probably too new of a fan of SnapDonnie to have paid attention to those asks, and don't have the attention span to scroll through a ton of asks just to obtain a specific bit of information)
Similarly, I don't know exactly at what point Donnie starts attracting flies. It might not be as early as I'm depicting here. I can certainly move that part to a later section, but I don't know what I'd replace it with.
In general, if you have suggestions for things to be changed/switched around to better fit with the 'canon' of SnapDonnie, I'd love to hear it. It's better to make changes now while things are still very rough and flexible, than once I'm more committed and frames have taken quite a bit more effort to make.
Sorry for the super long 'ask,' this ended up being a bit of an info-dump lol.
WHA- YOURE MAKING ONE TOO????
thats so cool omg!! And im just gonna go a bit crazy over the frames if u dont mind me~ BUT THE ONE WITH THE SHADOW??? thats literally so creative im obsessed with it. I love cinematic shots like that, they just make my brain buzz <3
and the one where hes doing thumbs up to Raph absolutely cracked me up!
Also to answer your questions- SnapDonnie takes please after the movie, So Raph has a blind eye and hole in his shell/plastron, Mikey has his scars (though u cant drawing them in bandages to aviod drawing them if i want -i always forget to draw them lol) and Leo has a leg brace.
And as for the flies, Donnie starts to attract them basically immediately once the physical changes start, though he basically douses himself with insect repellent at first (while he still wants to repel them) So frames 24 and 25 would go after he really starts to change instead of before.
Hope that helps!! It looks amazing so far! <3
Hi! I just found your AU and I’m intrigued. I’m also making an AU (haha more trauma for Liko girl is not gonna have a good time) and I’d like to hear all about the AU you’re making! I think Liko as a Terapagos is a very interesting premise!
LOOKS. CURIOSITY. I'D LOVE TO HEAR ABT YOURS
sure!!
OK SO. The Professor (can be either turo or sada!) goes down to the undedepths to collect quality tera crystals for the ai professor. they get to the heart of the underdepths (terapagos room) and start chipping away at the crystals until they find a different looking crystal (pendant/sleeping terapagos)
they bring it back, toss it in a jar, and go to sleep
prof wakes up goes to tinker w/ the android, and after a bit, the gem starts vibrating and glowing in the jar! they open the jar, and the crystal floats up and! ta-da! shiny terapagos! they don't know what the Hell it is!
bringing up the pokedex scares it, so it runs away! to the elevator! without the indigo disk in it!
prof rushes over into the elevator with it, and it heads down to the time machine
the lift arrives, and Everyone's Favourite Little Thang runs out towards it
its presence causes the half-finished time machine to activate (which it really shouldn't do) and drags it into the centre of the room!
it starts overloading terapagos with energy, which cracks its shell a bit! and then it's gone!
SURPRISE! shiny terapagos got teleported to another bloody dimension! and for Reasons that i don't know of, is now in the form of A Particular Child, Liko! with the little pendant!
Diana is nearby with her Arcanine, and runs over, scoops her up, and brings her to Lucca (liko's mum) and! surprise child attack! surprise adoption attack!
that's all i have for the story, but for ideas in general, i have a few more :3
because this is my au, i can headcanon anything i want, so. leg and chest pain + sudden breathlessness attack
also, whenever the pendant is removed, she turns back into a terapagos :3
WILL DO - Adult content (must be over 21), angst, fluff, light gore (think slightly above PG-13), villains, OCxOC, AUs, crossovers
WILL NOT DO - incest/pedo/zoo, self harm, suicide, age regression, bodily waste, homophobia/transphobia/racism/sexism/bigotry of any kind (EVEN if its fictional! I just don't want to), drugs, non-con
ALL smut and romance rp will require clear consent and all parties may revoke consent at any time for any reason.
Exclusively on Discord, Tupperbox or similar preferred.
OCs and Fandoms under cut
✎ OCs
Sedgewick Wolke - Alien, 30s, He/Him. Nerd, out of touch, well-meaning, gay. Imprisoned for 8 years after accidentally destroying his kind (whoops!). Trying to make up for it all, needs everyone all day long to like him so much.
Sybil Wolke - Alien, 20s, She/Her. Cunning, dry wit, impulsive, will kill you, bisexual. Thrust into leadership after 90% of her kind was killed, bearer of the curse (chosen from birth to be a messiah. She's handling it really well.) Sedge's sister.
Rin - Wolf, Adult, She/Her. Tough, kind, used to looking our for herself. Bastard child with a strained relationship with her dad, but knows how to swing a staff.
Neska - Wolf, 20s, He/Him. Gooey center with a tough outer shell. Was born to breed new gods and die a horrible violent death by said gods. Mama's boy, large build but frail health.
Ha Forte - "Catgirl" (alien), 30s, She/Her. Rough and tumble, but very short with most of her weight in her tail. Pansexual. Researcher on earth, unfortunately landed in rural Michigan. Something of a tinkerer.
Sophia - Lesser Gryphon, 50s, She/Her. Lesbian. Ornery, crotchety, and desperately lonely. Doesn't like to talk about her past much and prefers to be left alone. Has a soft spot for kids, though.
Harley "Happiness" Stermann - Star Entity, 20s, He/They. Pansexual. Egomaniac, paranoid, flashy, has done things he's not proud of. Has a strained relationship with the truth.
Maxim "Mania" Stermann - Star Entity, 20s, He/They. Pansexual. Even worse than Harley, but doesn't feel any shame about it. Stereotypical villain, loves violence and bloodshed. Can be tamed, but not recommended. Harley's brother.
